NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ON PROPOSED – TITLE III CRIMINAL CODE/AMENDMENT
Please take Notice that the Tribal Business Council of the Three Affiliated Tribes - MHA Nation has approved that the following Title III Criminal Code/Amendment be considered for enactment by the Tribal Business Council at its regularly scheduled Tribal Business Council Meeting on November 9, 2023.
The Tribal Business Council is taking comments from the Public on the proposed
Title III Criminal Code/Amendment and will consider your comments when it takes final action on the Title III Criminal Code/Amendment.
Draft copies of the proposed Code/Amendment are available at the Tribal Legal Department located in the Tribal Administration Building, 404 Frontage Road, New Town, ND, and on the MHA Nation website.
The Public has sixty (60) days from the date of August 14th to submit any written comments on the Title III Criminal Code/Amendment. The written comments are to be submitted to the Office of the Tribal Secretary either by hard copy or by electronic submission via the Tribal e-mail system. Comments must be in writing and must be signed by the individual submitting the comments. If submitted by hard copy, the comments must be placed in an envelope and be identified on the outside of the envelope as comments on the proposed – Title III Criminal Code/Amendment. All comments are to be submitted by 4:30 p.m. (cst) on October 13, 2023.
In addition, Public Comment Meetings on the Criminal Code will be held in each Segment. Details on those meetings are to be announced.

The Native Connections program at Elbowoods Memorial Health Center is hosting September 2023 Suicide Prevention & Awareness Walks for each segment. All are invited to attend. Registration is free. There will be free food, snacks, water and local support available. First 50 to register per segment will receive a free suicide prevention t-shirt.
